 Oti Regional Minister Cautions Perpetrators of Mayhemin Nkwanta Municipalities, Calls For Peace

 

The Oti Regional Minister  Hon. Daniel Machator has issued a stern warning to any individual or groups of individuals who are committed to weakening the high level of security in Nkwanta and denying residents their due peace of mind.

 

His warning came on the back of recent disturbances in the Nkwanta municipalities which

have led to the destruction of lives and properties. Hon. Daniel Machator also advisedresidents in the region to stay away from violence as he underscored the importance of peace in attractingdevelopment to the area.

 

According to him, Nkwanta is the center and town that  is well known in the region, but due to the current high level of insecurity in the area investors are unwilling to come invest in the socio-economic activities available in the community.

 


He therefore pledged to bring to book the perpetrators of violence in the municipalities and make them face the law after he committed to restoring peace back to Nkwanta.

Adding his voice to the peace restoration callsHon. Geoffrey Kini, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta SouthConstituency also urged the youth to stay away from anyone who intends manipulating them to cause any form of mayhem to satisfy their selfish political interests in the upcoming elections in December his year.

 

He urged them to be constructive with their criticismutterances and desist from making derogatory comments that hold the potency of igniting violence especially political andtribal bigotries.

 


 

Meanwhile, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nkwanta South Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Managing Director for the State Housing CompanySheriffa SekyereTijani, bemoaned the snail-paced development in theconstituency which she attributed to the lack of unity among the constituents resulting in occasional tribal conflicts.

 

She also called on electorates to give the women in the electoral area the chance to lead the municipality to fosterdevelopment.

 

They all made these assertions during the Eid-al-Adhacelebration in Nkwanta.
