Ghana’s commitment to maintaining a neutral and balanced foreign policy was strongly reiterated by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during a statement on the nation's diplomatic relations. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Ablakwa emphasized that Ghana continues to uphold the principle of being "friends of all and enemies to none" in its interactions with other nations.
The declaration came amidst discussions surrounding the vetting of Ministerial nominees for various government portfolios. Ablakwa, who is known for his outspoken stance on national issues, specifically addressed concerns regarding Ghana’s diplomatic ties and foreign policy under the new administration. He underscored that regardless of political leadership changes, Ghana’s foreign policy would remain anchored in the pursuit of peace, cooperation, and mutual respect.
"Our foreign policy is one of inclusivity, fostering goodwill across the world. Ghana does not engage in conflicts or adopt antagonistic stances against any nation," he said. Ablakwa further stressed that Ghana's foreign policy is designed to prioritize the country's strategic interests, while also promoting global peace and security.
Ablakwa’s comments come at a time when Ghana is navigating delicate diplomatic engagements with both regional and international partners. The country is positioning itself as a key player in African and global affairs, advocating for strong economic ties, development partnerships, and peacebuilding initiatives.
This diplomatic stance, according to Ablakwa, is an integral part of Ghana’s leadership role on the African continent and its growing influence on the international stage. His remarks are seen as part of a broader effort to ensure that Ghana continues to project a message of unity and collaboration with all nations, regardless of the political landscape.
The parliamentary debate surrounding the vetting of Ministerial nominees has also included discussions on foreign policy and the international relations portfolios, with a focus on ensuring that Ghana’s diplomatic efforts remain stable and effective in advancing national interests.
Ablakwa reiterated that Ghana’s position in global affairs remains steadfast, with the government focused on ensuring that the country maintains friendly relations with all while staying clear of unnecessary conflicts or diplomatic tensions.
