The Paramount Chief of the Asikuma Traditional Area who doubles as the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, has expressed concern about the poor state of roads in the region, particularly in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District.
Speaking during the Akwasidae festival at his palace in Breman Asikuma, the Paramount Chief said almost all the roads in the district have deteriorated, with potholes making travelling difficult and dangerous.
According to him, the situation has also heightened security risks with some travellers falling victim to armed robbery attacks.
Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII called on government officials, including the Member of Parliament for the area, Alhaji Kobina Ghansa, and the District Chief Executive, Olivia Bentil, to honour their campaign pledges to reshape the district’s roads before November 2024.
In the meantime, he urged residents, drivers, and motorcycle riders to organise communal labor to patch potholes and protect the few roads that are still in good condition.
The traditional leader also used the occasion to appeal for peace and unity within the district. He said the people must safeguard the harmony they currently enjoy, describing peace as the foundation for development and social well-being.
Odeefuo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, who has been active in supporting health and development projects in his traditional area, said sustaining peace would ensure progress for both present and future generations.
