Chinese Will Mess Your House - Landlord
Tetteh Abbey, a property owner in Mateheko, a suburb of Accra, has revealed how some foreigners leave properties rented out to them during their stay in the country in very deplorable states, citing Chinese residents as the major culprits.
According to him, while claims that Nigerian occupants of rented properties usually end up causing troubles may be true, it is not so in all cases, insisting that the Chinese occupants do more damage than good to the properties.
In an interview with MultiCDB which is available on YouTube, Mr. Abbey said some Nigerians are rather "calm", unlike the majority of them in the country.
“In Africa we find ourselves to be responsible for certain things a bit, but the whites are not much like us. You rent a facility to them, especially the Chinese, and they put it in a complete mess, trust me. That's why I said I’ll be blunt about it“ he stated.
“Most Chinese people who have rented houses belonging to me or some of my friends, after months leave the place in terrible conditions. They mess the whole place up especially the washrooms.
"Sweeping and keeping the place tidy is a big no; and you know as Africans, we don’t play with putting our houses spick and span every morning and evening. But these Chinese don’t do that”, he lamented.
