JamRok Bar And Event Centre Sues Mr. Drew For Failing To Perform At Easter Event.
JamRok
Bar and Event Centre has filed a lawsuit against popular Ghanaian musician Mr.
Drew for failing to perform at their Easter Dance Party on 1st
April, 2024, in Asuogyaman.
The
organisers claim the artiste received an amount of Ghc15,000.00 which is half
payment of the amount he charged as his performance fee on agreement that he
would be given the remaining amount on the day of performance.
According
to the event organisers, Mr. Drew arrived at his hotel with his team around 3pm
on the day of the event. However, they tried to reach out to him for his
performance around midnight but they got no response from him.
On
a second attempt, they found the artiste together with his team asleep at the
hotel. They woke them up and to their surprise the artiste and his team drove
away without performing. Also, they offered no explanation whatsoever as to why
they left.
Taking
legal action, the organisers have filed a writ of summons on April 15 seeking
the following;
1. A refund of the initial Ghc15,000.00
performance fee.
2. Reimbursement of Ghc36,511.00 for
event-related expenses.
3. Compensation for reputational damage of Ghc200,000.00
caused by the cancellation of the event.
