Circle Odwana near Kwame Nkrumah Circle is in a state of disarray due to the fire outbreak this morning which has consumed over 15 structures in the area.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the cause, yet to be known.
The intervention of the Ghana Fire Service, who were immediately called to the scene, helped to salvage the situation, preventing the fire from reaching a nearby warehouse and other structures in the area.
Victims in the area are counting their losses, since they are going to be homeless.
In an interview with Multicdb online, ADO1 Alex King Nartey of the Ghana National Service Public Relations Department said, the firefighters have managed to bring the problem under control. He urged people and individuals living in wooden structures to avoid using gas cylinders and go in for charcoal to help minimise such risks.
An investigation is still ongoing by the fire service to find the cause of the outbreak, and has urged the residents and business owners to adhere strictly to fire safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
