As of 2023, approximately 334,095 individuals in Ghana are living with HIV/AIDS, including 17,774 children under 15 years old.
The national HIV prevalence rate among adults aged 15-49 is estimated at 1.7%.
In 2023, there were 12,480 new HIV infections and 1,404 AIDS-related deaths recorded in Ghana.
The Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) is leading the national response to the HIV epidemic, focusing on prevention, treatment, and support services.
Despite these efforts, challenges remain in achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets by 2025, which aim for 95% of people living with HIV to know their status, 95% of those diagnosed to be on antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of those on therapy to achieve viral suppression.
Ongoing initiatives are addressing these challenges to improve the health and well-being of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Ghana.
