The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has confirmed that the case involving political activist and musician Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, remains under active investigation.
Addressing the press earlier today, Dr. Ayine stated that ongoing legal consultations and evidence review are still in motion. He noted that unless a mutually agreeable resolution is reached between the parties involved, the case will proceed to trial.
“The matter is still being thoroughly examined. If there is no amicable settlement, the Republic will proceed with a full trial,” Dr. Ayine said.
While details of the case remain limited due to legal sensitivities, sources close to the prosecution suggest the investigation touches on allegations of financial misconduct and possible defamatory statements made against certain public officials.
A Plus, known for his sharp critiques of government operations and alleged corruption within public institutions, has yet to publicly respond to the Attorney General’s statement.
Civil society watchers and media commentators are closely monitoring the developments, given A Plus’ high-profile status and the broader implications the case could have for freedom of speech, political expression, and accountability in Ghana.
More updates to follow as the legal process unfolds.
