In a rare show of bipartisan praise, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has lauded the Deputy Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan constituency, Hon. Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, for facilitating the visit of 22 resident medical doctors to her constituency.
The team, consisting of obstetricians and gynaecologists from America’s first university of research—where Dr. Ayensu-Danquah earned her master’s degree in public health—arrived to provide essential medical care and training in Essikado-Ketan.
Speaking passionately on the floor of Parliament, the Minority Leader noted that very few individuals have the network, initiative, and dedication to marshal such critical support for Ghana’s healthcare system.
“What our colleague has done deserves commendation, and I hope the government will make good use of her professional expertise because she is a very experienced professional,” he emphasized.
Residents of Essikado-Ketan are expected to benefit significantly from the specialized services and knowledge transfer provided by the visiting doctors, a move many observers believe could help improve maternal and reproductive health outcomes in the region.
The Minority Leader’s commendation signals rare political unity over an initiative that could set a new standard for how MPs can leverage their international networks to improve lives in their constituencies.
