Hon. Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah's concern over renewed scrutiny of her academic background

Deputy Health Minister and Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Hon. Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, has expressed concern over renewed scrutiny of her academic background and the authenticity of her professorial title.

Speaking on Power FM’s Dwaboase show with NK Obrempong on August 13, Dr. Ayensu Danquah addressed recent criticism from the Minority Leader in Parliament, who described her ministerial appointment as “strange” following a controversial remark she made.

The deputy minister, who has long been involved in charitable medical outreach programmes in Ghana, highlighted her track record of bringing doctors from the United States annually to conduct free surgeries and provide healthcare services in underserved communities efforts that predate her parliamentary career.

She stressed that she had the option to remain in the United States, where service conditions and remuneration were far more favourable, but chose instead to return home to contribute to national development.

“I could have stayed in the U.S. and made more money, but I came back to give back to my people,” she stated.

Dr. Ayensu Danquah concluded by expressing her gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for appointing her as Deputy Health Minister and pledged to give her best in service to the nation.
