In an interview on the 16th of September,2025, with prominent TV broadcaster, Anita Akua-Akuffo, ace broadcaster Oheneyere Gifty Anti unraveled certain assumptions and perceptions generally held by many about the primitive years of her career.
She asserted that
journalism found her by accident. “I had always wanted to become a public
relations practitioner, so after completing SHS I bought GIJ application forms
and chose the PR option but when my admission letter came, I realized that I
had been enrolled into the institution as a journalism student instead”- she
affirmed.
Gifty Anti stated that
she did not pass up the chance - she seized the opportunity and pursued the
journalism course in the Ghana Institute of Journalism, which is now
re-designated as University of Media, Arts and Communication-Institute of
Journalism.
The eminent broadcaster
mentioned that she doubles as a writer and she has eight books authored by her.
“It would intrigue you to know that I write most of my stories on my phone and
I can take just two days to finalize my write-ups”-she added.
Her career journey was
not all rosy, there were challenging moments along the line. During the nascent
stages of her career, she encountered demeaning comments and unhealthy
criticism which could have discouraged her and impacted her self-confidence but
she preserved in the face of damaging opinions.
“A story in a recognized
newspaper was published and headlined ‘PRETTY FACE FOR A SHOWHOST BUT
UNINTELLIGENT FOR THE SHOW’, she said.
The seasoned broadcaster
is also a philanthropist and she has years on engaged in a number of charity
works, providing varied forms of support through volunteer activities,
philanthropic efforts and humanitarian work. She mentioned that she feels
paranoid when people approach her off camera with numerous issues they are
facing and she wishes she had the capacity to solve everyone’s problem.
Oheneyere Gifty Anti
asserted that she is apolitical, hence she has no enthusiasm or interest in
political activities or holding any political office someday.
The legacy she envisions
is to be remembered as making a positive impact in society.
