Mondo Duplantis Shatters World Record for 14th Time, Secures Third Straight Gold in Tokyo


In a wonderful display at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis etched his name further into history by clearing 6.30 meters on his third attempt to break his own pole vault world record for the 14th time
.


The 25-year-old American-born Swede who clinched his third consecutive world title recently set the mark at 6.29m in Budapest just last month, soared effortlessly over the bar at Japan National Stadium.


"I am so happy, I cannot explain it," he said after winning the competition. "For the past two weeks, I really enjoyed being in Tokyo. I have been enjoying everything so much. I feel the only way to leave Japan was to set the world record. That was my mentality."


This victory takes Duplantis championship crown to 5th after obtaining gold at the Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 Olympics, worlds in Eugene 2022 and Budapest 2023 , to solidify his status as the undisputed king of pole vault.
