Hon. Dr. Ayensu-Danquah present pickup vehicle to the Fijai Fire Service station in Sekondi-Takoradi

In a bold step towards enhancing road safety, Hon. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, Deputy Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, has presented a brand-new, fully equipped extrication pickup vehicle to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Fijai. This initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's "Big Push Programme" to transform Ghana's road infrastructure and drive economic growth.

Enhancing Emergency Response Capabilities

The new vehicle is equipped with advanced rescue tools, enabling firefighters to respond swiftly and effectively to accidents. The GNFS Fijai station commander expressed gratitude, noting that the vehicle will significantly enhance their operational efficiency.

Addressing Road Safety Concerns

The presentation comes amid a concerning rise in road accidents in the region, with 68 accidents recorded in Fijai and its surrounding areas since May 2025, resulting in 20 fatalities and numerous injuries. The new vehicle is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing these numbers by improving response times and providing advanced rescue support.

A Step Towards Safer Roads

Hon. Dr. Ayensu Danquah's contribution complements the government's efforts to address Ghana's road safety crisis. Local residents welcomed the new vehicle, expressing hope that it would deter reckless driving and improve emergency outcomes.
