Brandon Thomas-Asante Lands in Morocco for Late Black Stars Lifeline

Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has touched down at the team’s Moroccan base ahead of the pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The 26-year-old forward, who was called up after Athletic Bilbao’s Iñaki Williams suffered an injury in club action, arrived late Sunday night ready to stake his claim in the attack.

Williams, the 31-year-old Bilbao stalwart and a Black Stars mainstay with over 50 caps, was ruled out after tweaking his hamstring in a La Liga over the weekend.

His absence leaves a void in Ghana’s forward line, where his blend of pace, power, and aerial threat has been a game changer but also provided Brandon with an opportunity.

Thomas-Asante has been on a tear in the English Championship this season with five goals and three assists in nine outings for Coventry, capped by a weekend brace in a 3-1 dismantling of Sheffield Wednesday.

Thomas-Asante joins a dressing room blending veterans like captain Andre Ayew with rising stars like Fatawu as they prepare in Casablanca for the last round of games to seal qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
