Garu MP Partners with Qatar Charity to Provide Boreholes to Communities Facing Water Crisis
Garu, Upper East Region In a move set to tackle the persistent water challenges in northern Ghana, the Member of Parliament for Garu, in partnership with Qatar Charity, has announced the provision of multiple merchandised boreholes to communities struggling with access to clean water.
The initiative, aimed at addressing the long-standing water crisis affecting households, schools, and healthcare facilities, will ensure that residents have reliable access to safe and potable water. Each borehole comes equipped with modern mechanisms designed to serve both immediate and long-term community needs.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Garu MP highlighted the devastating impact of water scarcity on education, health, and local livelihoods, emphasizing that access to clean water is a critical driver of development. “We recognize that water is life. Through this partnership, we aim to bring relief to our people and improve living conditions across affected communities,” the MP stated.
Qatar Charity, known for its global humanitarian work, expressed commitment to supporting sustainable water projects that empower communities and reduce the burden of water-related challenges.
Local leaders and residents welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the new boreholes would significantly reduce the distances women and children travel to fetch water daily, while also supporting hygiene and sanitation efforts.
