Ghana Expands Digital Skills to Empower Women, Youth, and Underserved Communities

Ghana is accelerating efforts to expand digital skills and empower women, youth, and underserved communities to participate effectively in the country’s growing digital economy, according to Communications Minister Sam George.

Speaking at a recent technology and innovation forum, the minister emphasized that the government’s initiatives aim to bridge the digital divide, ensure equitable access to technology, and equip citizens with the tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Minister George noted that these programmes include digital literacy training, entrepreneurship support, and access to online resources, targeting groups that have historically faced barriers to technology adoption.

“The digital economy presents immense opportunities for job creation, innovation, and socio-economic development. By equipping our women, youth, and underserved communities with the right skills, we are ensuring that no one is left behind,” he said.

The government’s push aligns with broader national strategies to modernize education, promote innovation hubs, and foster inclusive economic growth, positioning Ghana as a regional leader in digital transformation.

Stakeholders and participants have welcomed the initiatives, highlighting their potential to create sustainable livelihoods, empower marginalized groups, and drive national development.
