“We Celebrate the Food You Produce…” – Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Praises Ghanaian Farmers on Farmers Day
Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has paid glowing tribute to Ghanaian farmers and fishers, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to the country’s economy and food security as the nation marked Farmers Day 2025.
Speaking at the national ceremony, the Vice President emphasized that farmers remain the backbone of Ghana’s development, stressing that the nation’s progress is deeply tied to their daily sacrifices and hard work.
“We celebrate the food you produce, the families you feed, and the nation you sustain,” she said, highlighting the vital role farmers play across all sectoof the economy.
She commended farmers for their resilience despite challenges such as climate change, rising production costs, and market pressures. Prof. Naana Jane reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting them with improved agricultural interventions, modern farming tools, and policies aimed at boosting the sector’s productivity.
She added that the administration remains focused on building a stronger agricultural foundation that ensures food affordability, enhances farmer welfare, and strengthens Ghana’s food systems for future generations.
The national Farmers Day celebration brought together key stakeholders, including policymakers, traditional leaders, farmer associations, and award-winning agric professionals from across the country.
