A Chinese man is accused of beheading Ghanaian employee Isaac Boateng in Kweikum, a town in the Sekondi-Takoradi municipality in the western region.
The Chinese company for which the perpetrator worked was hired to build a building next to an apartment building at the Ghana Navy housing estate in Kweikum.
A worker named Boat said we demanded a paycheck when his anger was running high.
We've been working for a month now and we're not getting paid, so we met and asked our Chinese employer why we weren't getting paid. “I have a family and people in debt, so one of my colleagues went to the Chinese boss to find out what the problem was with the salary.”
“During the quarrel, the Chinese boss quickly drew a knife and beheaded a colleague. There were deep wounds and blood stains everywhere. He was taken to Effiankwanta Hospital and we pray that he is safe.”
According to him, about 80 Ghanaians work in construction companies, each of which earns 18 GH¢ per day.
He added that after a colleague was hospitalized for treatment, several military personnel intervened to resolve the issue.
“Some military (officials) intervened and restored stability, but the foreigners who committed the crime were still released. We suffer and want justice for our brothers. We have about 80 workers here and pay 18GH every day for tedious construction work.”
