Black Stars skipper Andre Morgan Rami Ayew was born on December 17, 1989 in Seclin.
The son of retired iconic footballer Abedi Ayew, Abdul-Ibrahim Rahim Ayew and Jordan Pierre Ayew are his siblings.
An incredibly-talented winger whose deft touches, electrifying pace and goalscoring wizardry awed many, he debuted for Ghana in a trial match against Senegal on August 21, 2007 and captained the Black Satellites to victory in the CAF Under-20 Nations Cup Final on February 1, 2009.
On October 16, 2009, the team beat Brazil on penalties in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup Final.
He has played for Ghana at the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 Nations Cup tournaments. A losing finalist in 2010 and 2015, he picked up the Golden Shoe at the latter. Appearing at three World Cups in 2010, 2014 and 2022, he has also enjoyed stints in France, England, Wales and Turkey.
His flamboyant and entertaining style of play earned him the moniker "Dede" which is lavishly embossed on the lips of all and sundry. The globetrotting player currently plies his trade for Qatari side and 2011 Asian Champions League winners Al Sadd. The thirty-three-year-old is also Ghana's second top scorer at the World Cup.
