Former US Military Office Holder Calls For The Arrest, Punishment of Galamsey Chiefs
A former chaplain of the US Military
Hospital, Very Rev. J.B. Danquah has advised the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA), the police, military and other security agencies to show seriousness in
the fight against destruction of water bodies in the country.
The revered clergyman could not
understand why people destroy water bodies with such impunity.
According to him, Ghana can't afford
to import water hence his call for the security agencies and other stakeholders
to show seriousness in the fight.
He also warn chiefs who allow for
galamsey activities in their communities, adding that there was the need to
severely punish such chiefs who only consider their selfish interests.
He therefore encouraged religious
leaders to involve themselves in the fight against the ongoing canker by sensitizing
their followers.
