Replace Bible and Quran with Eggs and Schnapps for Swearing-in political leaders – Priests and Priestesses Association Proposes
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Fetish Priests and Priestesses Association, Okomfoɔ Yaw, has made a bold statement about the state of corruption in Ghana.
Addressing the press after the association's meeting atAsenemaso Nkwanta within the Kwabre East municipality, he emphasized that corruption is severely hindering Ghana's development.
Okomfoɔ Yaw attributed this to the ineffective oath-taking process for political leaders during their swearing-in ceremonies, which he believes fails to instil sufficient fear to propel accountability.
To address this issue, he suggested an unconventional approach: replacing the regular use of the Holy Bible and Quran for oath-taking with traditional religion methods, such as swearing with eggs and schnapps, to instil a deeper sense of reverence and fear in leaders.
He argued that this would lead to a significant reduction in corruption, allowing Ghana to reach its full potential and become one of the best countries globally.
Okomfoɔ Yaw further stressed that the association's intention is not to promote evil but to seek the best for Ghana. He lamented that despite the country's abundant natural resources, it still relies on international financial assistance, citing corruption as the primary obstacle.
Furthermore, he expressed concern that the actions of leaders, particularly politicians, are setting a bad example for the youth, fostering a culture of disrespect.
By proposing this unique solution, Okomfoɔ Yaw aims to spark a conversation about the need for a more effective and culturally relevant approach to addressing corruption in Ghana.
