The University of Professional Students(UPSA) has named a hostel which has been newly built after the Running Mate for Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
This naming follows their recognition of Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s contribution to education in Ghana.
The ceremony which was held on the university’s campus celebrated his visionary leadership in his tenure as the Minister of Education and the role he played in supporting infrastructural development in the university.
Dr. Kofi Ohene Konadu, the chairman of the university council in an address, acknowledged Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his immerse contribution to construct the facility.
“This hostel stands as a testament to his dedication to improving infrastructure for tertiary education” he said in his address.
The hostel is expected to accommodate about 5,000 students to help ease the issue of accommodation and help facilitate effective learning.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, students and other members of the university, as it is a ceremony of lasting impact.
