REV. ENG. EDMUND YIRENKYI FIANKO APPOINTED AS ACTING DIRECTOR GENERAL OF NCA.


President John Mahama has appointed Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko as the Acting Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), marking a historic moment for the organization. 

This appointment is significant, as Rev. Fianko is the first Director General to be appointed from within the organization.

Rev. Fianko brings over 20 years of experience in electronic communications engineering, with expertise in radio frequency spectrum management, telecom and broadcasting regulation, policy development, and ICT industry research. He has also worked extensively in teaching, publishing, and public speaking.

His impressive background includes being elected to the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2022, representing member countries for a four-year term. 

Since joining the NCA in 2004, Rev. Fianko has progressed through the ranks, holding key leadership roles, including Director of the Engineering Division and Chairman of the Significant Market Power (SMP) Operations Team.

Rev. Fianko's expertise has extended beyond Ghana, contributing to regional and international telecommunications projects and serving on technical and regulatory committees for organizations such as the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

He holds degrees from prestigious institutions, including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Buckinghamshire New University, UK, and Universidad Católica de Murcia, Spain. 

Rev. Fianko is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

He is a Minister of the Methodist ChurchGhana, an author and the founder of the evangelistic outreach, Nkwa.Life.
