The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emilia Arthur, has pledged to complete and operationalise the Anomabo Fisheries College which was started in 2013 but abandoned by the immediate past Akufo-Addo-led NPP government.
In 2013, President John Mahama and the NDC government commenced the construction of the fisheries college at Anomabo in the Mfantsiman Municipal District of the Central Region, aimed at training unemployed youth in fishing but was later abandoned after power changed hands in the 2016 general elections.
In an interview with the media during a working visit, Hon. Emilia Arthur promised to ensure the completion and operationalisation of the college to help train more people in fish farming.

Underscoring the Minister’s assurance, the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, said the project will create jobs and boost the local economy of Anomabo community and the entire Mfantseman Municipality when the university comes into full operation.
“Like I said, this is an exciting news for the people here because it’s going to create a lot of opportunities in terms of employment for our people here. You don’t need a degree to work here at the university; you can be a security man, you can be an auxiliary services provider,” Hon. Dr. Arhin stated.
He added, that the Mfantseman fisheries university is a project that is dear to their hearts and a top priority hence will see to its completion and operationalisation.
