Armed Operatives Storm Ken Ofori-Atta’s Home—Mystery Surrounds Raid

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Cantonments, Accra, was reportedly raided by a group of individuals, some dressed in military uniforms. At the time of the incident, Ofori-Atta was reportedly out of the country on a medical trip, with family members, including his wife, present at the residence.

The group, comprising approximately 12 individuals—five in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and the rest in plain clothes—entered the premises and conducted a search. Eyewitnesses reported that the team entered the premises forcefully, pushing aside the private security guards at the house. A housemaid named Aggie was also reportedly shoved aside as the team searched various parts of the house, including Mr. Ofori-Atta’s bedroom. However, they left without carrying any documents or valuables, leading to speculation that the operatives suspected the ex-minister was in hiding.

The motive behind the raid remains unclear, and authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), led by William Kissi Agyebeng, is believed to have conducted the operation. Family sources disclosed that the OSP had earlier written to Mr. Ofori-Atta, summoning him to appear before them on Monday, February 10, 2025, for an ongoing investigation. However, his legal team informed the OSP of his medical trip to the United States and his scheduled appointments with doctors until March.

The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of the raid and the treatment of family members present during the operation. The public awaits further information from the authorities regarding the purpose of the raid and any subsequent actions.
