President John Dramani Mahama has directed Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to promptly investigate the findings of the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee. The committee, established to uncover instances of corruption and financial mismanagement, officially presented its report on Monday, February 10, 2025. President Mahama emphasized the urgency of these investigations, stating, "I have promptly handed over the report to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and I give him firm instructions to commence immediate investigations into the cases reported here."
The ORAL committee's report details 2,417 complaints spanning sectors such as public procurement, state infrastructure projects, and COVID-19 expenditure. In its initial 24 hours of operation, the committee received over 400 corruption-related reports, reflecting significant public engagement. The final report includes 1,493 submissions via a toll-free line and an additional 924 received by email.
President Mahama reiterated his administration's commitment to combating corruption, stating, "Ghana must no longer be a haven for corrupt practices." He assured that funds recovered would be reinvested in national development.
The ORAL committee, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, includes former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Commissioner of Police Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer. The team has vowed to handle all reports with discretion and urgency.
With the Attorney General now tasked with investigating the findings, the nation awaits the next steps in what could be a defining moment in Ghana's fight against corruption.
