Earlier today, President John Mahama officially swore in the newly constituted National Police Council at the Jubilee House — with Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang taking her seat as Chairperson of the Council.


The ceremony brought together top-ranking government officials, police leadership, and dignitaries in a symbolic step toward strengthening national security and police reform.

🔎 What the National Police Council Does:

Guides policy decisions for the Ghana Police Service

Supports strategies for crime prevention and law enforcement

Advises on appointments, promotions, and disciplinary actions


President Mahama emphasized the Council’s critical role in rebuilding public trust in law enforcement and ensuring accountability at all levels of the police structure.


“The Ghana Police Service must be professional, people-centered, and proactive,” he said.


Vice President Naana Jane called for unity, modernization, and continuous training to improve safety for all Ghanaians.
