Government Ends ‘One District, One Factory’ Policy – Trade Minister Confirms

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has officially announced the termination of the ‘One District, One Factory (1D1F)’ policy.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Minister explained that the government has decided to discontinue the policy as part of its new strategy for industrialization and economic transformation. She stated that the decision was made after a careful review of the policy’s impact and performance over the past years.

The 1D1F initiative, introduced by the previous administration, aimed to establish at least one factory in every district to create jobs, boost production, and support local economies. While some factories under the program continue to operate, the government says its focus will now shift to broader agribusiness and industrial growth programs.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare assured the public that existing factories will not be abandoned but will be integrated into the government’s new industrial support schemes.
