In a significant step towards strengthening agricultural productivity and international cooperation, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), earlier today handed over a consignment of fertilizers to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The ceremony took place in Accra and was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This initiative marks a tangible outcome of the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Morocco. The fertilizers, part of a broader bilateral cooperation framework, are intended to support Ghana’s ongoing efforts to boost food security, enhance crop yields, and empower local farmers across the country.
Honourable Ablakwa, speaking at the handover ceremony, emphasized the strategic importance of agriculture to Ghana’s development agenda. “This donation is a reflection of the fruitful partnership between our two nations. It aligns with our shared commitment to sustainable development and food self-sufficiency,” he noted.
Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil reiterated Morocco’s dedication to supporting Ghana and other African nations through meaningful collaboration. “We are proud to contribute to Ghana’s agricultural sector. Fertilizer is more than a product—it is an investment in the livelihoods of farmers and the food security of future generations,” she said.
The fertilizers will be distributed by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to regions most in need, with a focus on smallholder farmers. The Minister for Food and Agriculture, in receiving the donation, expressed deep appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and impactful.
This gesture is expected to not only enhance productivity but also foster stronger South-South cooperation, in line with both countries' foreign policy goals and sustainable development targets.
As Ghana continues to work towards its goal of agricultural transformation, partnerships like these remain crucial in delivering results that matter on the ground.
