Sports Minister Kofi Adams Inaugurates Inter-Ministerial Technical Working Group

Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, has inaugurated an Inter-Ministerial Technical Working Group aimed at strengthening policy coordination and enhancing collaboration across key government ministries in the development of sports in the country.

The Working Group brings together technical experts and representatives from multiple ministries, including Education, Finance, Local Government, Tourism, and Health, to streamline efforts toward improving sports infrastructure, athlete development, and community participation nationwide.

In his remarks, Hon. Adams emphasized that sports development requires cross-sector cooperation, noting that issues such as infrastructure provision, talent grooming, health and fitness, school sports, and tourism potential cannot be handled by the Sports Ministry alone.

He stated that the new Working Group will help harmonize strategies, address bottlenecks, and accelerate government-led initiatives that support both grassroots and professional sports. The collaboration is also expected to contribute significantly to job creation, youth empowerment, and Ghana’s aspirations for improved performance on the international stage.

Stakeholders have welcomed the move, describing it as a timely intervention to ensure that sports policies are well-coordinated, sustainable, and effectively implemented across all sectors.

The Inter-Ministerial Technical Working Group is expected to begin its sessions immediately, with a detailed work plan to guide its mandate.
