The University of Ghana has dismissed widespread reports claiming the institution has revised its admission policy to formally accept individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
In a clarification issued today, the university explained that the recent review of its statutes did not introduce any LGBTQ+–related provisions. Instead, the update simply replaced gender-specific pronouns with gender-neutral language a standard administrative adjustment to modernize institutional documents.
UG emphasised that no policy changes have been made regarding student admissions.
More updates soon.
