NYA Encourages Youth to Move Beyond Riding, Build Businesses
The National Youth Authority (NYA) is urging young Ghanaians to think beyond temporary employment and explore long-term business opportunities. Osman Abdulai Ayariga, CEO of the NYA, emphasized that the Authority’s vision is to transform youth from casual riders to entrepreneurs.
“We are not interested in youth remaining riders forever; we want them to own fleets, build courier companies, and create sustainable businesses,”
Ayariga said.
The NYA is currently rolling out programs aimed at equipping young people with business skills, access to financing, and mentorship to help them launch and manage their own enterprises. The move is part of a broader national effort to promote youth employment, innovation, and economic self-reliance.
By empowering young people to transition from gig-based jobs to ownership roles, the NYA hopes to create a generation of skilled entrepreneurs who can contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economy.
