Electoral Commission To Extend Voters Registration Deadline In Case Of Backlog
The
Electoral Commission (EC) has assured stakeholders that if there is a backlog
of voters at the end of the twenty-one-day (21) process, the registration
period will be extended beyond the May 27, 2024 deadline.
The
Commission has instructed its District Officers to transition to offline mode
for the registration process amidst technical difficulties on day one of the
exercise.

The EC communicated this through a statement released on Wednesday, May 8, apologizing for the delays experienced.
The
decision was to allow the commission rectify the network challenges which
affected online registration.
This
was aimed at conducting a smooth and flawless electoral process to produce a
reliable voter register ahead of the general elections in December this year.
