Yvonne Nelson calls on Ghanaians for another ‘DumsorMust Stop’ Vigil
Ghanaian actress and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson has taken to social media once again to mobilize Ghanaians in addressing the rampant power crisis, popularly referred to as ‘Dumsor’.
In a heartfelt letter dated April 30, 2024, shared on X, the actress expressed great concern over the ongoing enfeebling power outages, and soliciting for a collective effort in demanding a lasting solution from the government to curb this major headache.
The letter Yvonne put out emphasized her history as a stern advocate for positive change, referencing the 2015 “DumsorMustStop” Campaign she spearheaded together with her colleague actors and other key personalities in the Ghanaian entertainment industry including D-Black, Prince David Osei, Kofi Bentil from Imani Ghana, Van Vicker, Efya, Sarkodie among others.
Yvonne recounted the challenges encountered in the initial campaign and highlighted the need for another collaborative effort to address the recurring power crisis. The actress described the persistent power outages as very alarming and detrimental to lives, businesses, productivity and nation’s progress in general.
She called on Ghanaians to join her in this vigil she looksforward to organizing and urged volunteers, concerned citizens and influential people in society to assist her in pushing for this all-important activity to combat the current power crisis.
Yvonne Nelson indicated that she had already extended invitations to notable people from Imani Ghana, including Franklin Cudjoe and Kofi Bentil, seeking their collaboration and assistance in championing another ‘DumsorMustStop’ vigil.
However, she revealed that she is yet to receive a response from the said key figures affirming their interest in supporting the vigil. Yvonne is of the greatest conviction that with a unanimous and great support ‘dumsor’ will be a thing of the past.
