The Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at Walewale in the North East Region has commissioned a 50 million watermelon factory on November 22, 2024.
According to the Presidential Candidate, the factory will create 800 direct and 8,000 indirect jobs for people.
Addressing the people during the commissioning, he said that over 150 factories have been built so far under the initiative of ‘One District, One Factory. ‘
“Today, under ‘One District One Factory’, we have completed over one hundred and fifty factories in Ghana, and one of the factories that we have completed is the Walewale watermelon processing factory. I remember when we started, there were a lot of doubt whether we will be able to deliver this factory. In fact, only a few weeks ago, one of the members of the opposition party in this constituency said, we have put up an empty container, and it was not a factory. Today, I will like him to come and inspect the factory himself,” Dr Bawumia addressed.
Farmers who are the primary beneficiaries of the facility, expressed their profound gratitude to Dr Baumia at the factory’s commissioning. Many highlighted the significant post-harvest losses they had endured and commended Dr Bawumia for fulfilling his promise.
