The grounds of Epic Center, a special School located in Gbawe, Accra on the 29th November was buzzed with excitement and creativity as the institution held its annual art exhibition, coupled with a spectacular showcase of students' special talents in modeling and singing. Friends, families, and community members gathered at the school's premises to celebrate the event, which highlighted the exceptional abilities of its students.
Background
The Epic Center founded by Mrs. Joyce Engmann, has been actively running since October 2013 serving as a place of hope, providing care and education for person with low syndrome and disabilities, the existence school has been a great support mechanism for families having difficulty in taking care of individuals with special needs.
The art exhibition featured an array of works crafted by the students despite their disabilities, showcasing their skills in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Each piece on display reflected the unique perspectives of the young artists, with themes ranging from cultural heritage to environmental awareness. Parents and guests moved through the vibrant gallery space, marveling at the creativity and passion evident in each piece.
One of the most anticipated segments of the event was the talent show, which provided students with an opportunity to shine in modeling and singing. Aspiring models took to the runway, displaying confidence and flair as they showcased various outfits, many of which were designed in collaboration with their peers. Their performances captivated the audience, earning rounds of applause and cheers.
The singing portion of the talent show was equally enchanting, with students delivering soulful renditions of popular song Aseda by highlife sensation King Paluta. The performers demonstrated remarkable vocal range and stage presence, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Co-founder of the student Mr, Nii Lomoete Engmann praised the students for their dedication and creativity, stating, "At Epic Center School, we believe in nurturing every aspect of our students' potential. This event is a testament to their hard work and the support they receive from their teachers and families. It’s inspiring to see how much they’ve grown as individuals and artists."
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the team lead of the school Stella Nketia, expressing gratitude to their invited guests, entire staff, families, and the broader community for their encouragement and support to the special students and the school as a whole.
