A tragic incident has struck the community of Kwahu Praso in the Eastern Region, where a 14-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate has reportedly died after complaining of a minor headache.

According to local sources, the young student, who was actively preparing to sit for this year’s national exams, had earlier complained of a mild headache but showed no signs of serious illness. She was later found unresponsive and pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby health facility.

Family members and school authorities have been left in deep shock, describing her as a bright and promising student with dreams of continuing her education beyond junior high school. The cause of death has not yet been officially determined, though health officials have indicated that a post-mortem examination may be conducted to provide clarity.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) and examination authorities have extended condolences to the bereaved family, offering psychological support to students and staff affected by the tragic loss.

This heartbreaking event is a solemn reminder of the unseen pressures and vulnerabilities many young students face—especially during major examinations. While academic success is important, so is the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of every child.

At Multicdb, we mourn with the family and the entire Kwahu Praso community. Let this moment renew our collective focus on the health, safety, and holistic care of all students as they pursue their dreams.
