NPP Elders Plan Courtesy Visit to Mahama to Seek Pardon for Wontumi – Ayew Afriyie Hints

Dr. Ayew Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, has hinted that a group of senior figures within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) may soon pay a courtesy visit to former President John Dramani Mahama to seek forgiveness on behalf of Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (popularly known as Chairman Wontumi).

The hint comes in the wake of recent tensions between Chairman Wontumi and the opposition NDC, following remarks many deemed disrespectful and inflammatory toward the former President.

“Some elders of the party are considering reaching out to President Mahama, possibly through a courtesy call, to seek a peaceful resolution,”

If the visit does happen, it could signal a major step toward reducing political polarization and promoting peace ahead of the 2026 general elections.

So far, no official date or delegation list has been announced, but political observers are watching closely as the story unfolds.
