Police Council Chair Promises Accountability and Reform

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, now serving as Chairperson of the National Police Council, has assured the public that issues of unfair treatment, internal misconduct, and unjustified grievances within the Ghana Police Service will not go unchecked.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted Council at Jubilee House, the Vice President emphasized the Council’s commitment to transparency, justice, and institutional reform.

Her remarks come at a time when the public is demanding higher accountability from security institutions. She pledged that the Council will actively review complaints, monitor the conduct of personnel, and uphold the rule of law within and beyond the service.

The National Police Council plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the Ghana Police Service. Under its guidance, the service is expected to:
