2026 Budget Debate: You Will Go Down as the Most Corrupt Government in Ghana’s History – Afenyo-Markin to NDC Government

During the ongoing 2026 budget debate in Parliament, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin delivered a scathing critique of the NDC-led government, accusing it of unprecedented corruption. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, he stated that the current administration risks being remembered as “the most corrupt government in the history of Ghana.”

Afenyo-Markin pointed to what he described as mismanagement of public funds, lack of accountability, and questionable expenditure decisions as evidence of the government’s failure to uphold transparency in fiscal management. He urged MPs and stakeholders to hold the government accountable and ensure that public resources are used responsibly.

The Minority Leader emphasized that corruption and financial mismanagement erode public trust and impede national development, particularly at a time when the government is presenting its budget priorities for 2026.

The comments have sparked heated exchanges in Parliament, with the ruling NDC defending its record and highlighting initiatives aimed at economic recovery, social welfare, and public infrastructure development.

The debate comes amid growing public scrutiny over fiscal discipline, public sector accountability, and the effectiveness of government spending, making the 2026 budget a focal point for both criticism and debate.
