EU Donates 1,500 Day-Old Birds to Boost Ghana’s Poultry Sector - Eric Opoku

The European Union has supported Ghana’s agricultural drive with the donation of 1,500 day-old birds, according to Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local poultry production, enhance food security, and reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported chicken. The Ministry says the birds will be distributed to selected farms and training centers to support both commercial and smallholder farmers.

Mr. Opoku noted that the gesture aligns with government plans to revive the poultry industry through improved breeding stock, capacity building, and affordable feed interventions.

The EU’s support adds to a growing list of partnerships aimed at modernizing agriculture and improving livelihoods across Ghana.
