MIIF Posts Historic GH¢1.9 Billion Profit With a 97% Profit Margin

The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) has announced a landmark financial performance for 2024, recording a historic GH¢1.9 billion profit  the highest since its establishment. The impressive results reflect a 97% profit margin, placing MIIF among the most profitable state-owned enterprises in the country.

According to the Fund’s audited financials, the 2024 profit represents more than a three-fold increase from the previous year. MIIF’s rapid growth has been attributed to its expanding mineral royalty base, disciplined financial management, and strategic investments across Ghana’s mining value chain.

What Drove the Record Performance

MIIF’s management explains that several key factors contributed to the achievement:

  • Broadened royalty collection, including improved monitoring of medium-scale gold mining and other minerals.
  • Diversification of investments, with stakes in mining companies, mineral development projects and value-addition initiatives.
  • Strong liquidity management, which resulted in billions in free cash reserves to support upcoming national mining projects.

The Fund’s equity base also experienced significant growth, strengthening its capacity to invest in critical minerals such as lithium, bauxite, industrial salt and limestone key drivers of Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

A Boost for Ghana’s Mining Future

Industry analysts note that MIIF’s performance reinforces its reputation as one of Ghana’s most efficiently managed state funds. The 2024 results also offer renewed confidence in the country’s potential to maximise mineral revenue through transparent and innovative investment strategies.

MIIF says it remains committed to supporting local participation in the mining sector, expanding value-addition opportunities and ensuring that Ghana’s mineral wealth directly contributes to long-term national development.
