Government Condemns Alleged Mistreatment of Ghanaians at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, Summons Israeli Embassy Officials

The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned the alleged mistreatment of Ghanaian travellers at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, describing the reported incidents as unacceptable and contrary to international standards of diplomatic and consular conduct.

In a firm statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that it has summoned officials of the Israeli Embassy in Accra to provide an explanation and address growing concerns from affected travellers and the wider public.

Several Ghanaians arriving in or transiting through the airport are reported to have faced undue delays, harsh interrogations, and what witnesses describe as disrespectful treatment, prompting swift action from Accra.

Government officials insist that while security protocols at international airports are understood, no Ghanaian should be subjected to discriminatory or demeaning procedures, especially within countries with which Ghana maintains longstanding diplomatic relations.

The upcoming engagement with Israeli diplomats is expected to demand:

  • Clarification on the reported incidents
  • Assurance of improved treatment of Ghanaian nationals
  • Measures to prevent future occurrences

The Foreign Ministry reiterated Ghana’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, warning that any further incidents could compel the government to consider stronger diplomatic responses.
