🗣️ “We Submitted It in January — So Why Was It Ignored?” – GRNMA Fires Back at Government

By MulticdbOnline | June 11, 2025

The nurses and midwives’ strike continues to spark heated conversations — and now the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is calling out the government for not honoring their agreement.

Joseph Krampah, National PRO of the GRNMA, is asking a serious question:

“We submitted the conditions of service agreement in January. Why didn’t the government include it in the March budget?”

According to him, the government had more than enough time to factor their demands into the national budget, but nothing was done — leading to the current strike.

💬 What Nurses Are Demanding:

Improved conditions of service

Timely payment of allowances

Inclusion of agreed terms in the national budget

Krampah says this strike could have been avoided if leaders had taken their January submission seriously. Now, thousands of nurses and midwives have withdrawn their services nationwide — and the health system is feeling the pressure.

🏥 What’s Next?

With a court injunction served via WhatsApp and warnings from labour experts about possible jail time for ignoring the order, the situation is getting more intense.

But for many nurses, it’s not just about money — it’s about being heard and respected.
