Mother Seeks Justice After Newborn Suffers Deep Cut During Cesarean at Jasikan District Hospital

A young mother from the Oti Region is demanding answers and accountability after her newborn baby reportedly sustained a deep cut near the ear during a cesarean section at the Jasikan District Hospital.

According to the family, the injury which they describe as a severe and unexpected laceration occurred during delivery but was not disclosed to them before they were discharged. It was only after noticing the cut themselves that they raised questions, leading to the baby being transferred to another health facility for further medical attention.

The infant is currently receiving treatment, but the family says the emotional trauma, lack of transparency, and potential long-term impact have left them distressed and seeking justice.

“We were shocked and heartbroken. How could something like this happen and no one told us?” a relative shared, expressing frustration over what they believe is negligence and a breach of trust.

As of now, the Jasikan District Hospital has not issued any official statement regarding the incident, despite growing concerns and calls for clarification from both the family and members of the public.

Health authorities in the Oti Region are also yet to publicly comment or announce any investigation into the matter.

The family says their primary demand is accountability  and assurance that no other mother or child will experience a similar ordeal.
